SA Brass Announces the return of Sunday Brass Ensemble Summer Training (B.E.S.T.) Program at St. Mary's University!
June 26 - July 31, 2 pm - 6:00 pm each Sunday Treadaway Recital Hall, St. Mary's University
note: B.E.S.T. 2016 is offered in place of the SA Brass Camp
Typically held on Sunday afternoons June through July, the B.E.S.T. Program is an opportunity for brass musicians of all ages and talent levels to continue honing their technique and musicianship through the summer months.
B.E.S.T. Program faculty members are Dr. John Carroll and Lee Hipp both long time members of the SA Brass as well as the San Antonio Symphony and have taught and performed with young musicians from all over the world. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to work with world-class musicians right here in San Antonio.
The B.E.S.T. Program is an educational outreach established by John Carroll and the San Antonio Brass. This program resulted when the collaboration between the San Antonio Symphony and St. Philips College - MAP (Musical Advancement Program) was discontinued. The brass students being mentored by the symphony program were retained by the San Antonio Brass through this new educational outreach and allowed for continuation of the mentoring of these students; throughout their training. For most this meant beginning as early as 6th grade and in some cases continuing through to professional placement both as teachers and performers. San Antonio Brass collaborated with Beacon Hill Presbyterian Church from 1999-2012 presenting this program each Sunday in June and July. There is a $10 fee per session for 2016 ($60) with a $10 discount for full payment at the first session ($50).
