Join the SABB for our 2025 Fall Brass Spectacular Concert!
This concert will feature classic brass band marches, orchestral transcriptions and original compositions. Our wonderful Solo Cornet Erin Thomas and Solo Euphonium John Caputo will both be featured performing pieces by Philip Sparke. As always, this concert is offered free and open to the public and donations can be made at the concert or via our website.

Dr. Matthew Mireles is the Chair of the Department of Music and Associate Dean in the College of Arts Humanities and Social Sciences at St. Mary’s University. Mireles serves as the Director of Bands, professor of tuba and euphonium, and professor of music education. He also regularly clinics and guest conducts high school and middle school bands, all-region honor bands, and adjudicates Texas honor band auditions and solo and ensemble competitions. Dr. Mireles has received a number of prestigious awards as a euphonium soloist, performs with the internationally renowned Boreas Quartet, and is an active local chamber musician.
Erin Thomas is a native San Antonian and a product of the Boerne band programs. She is an active performer and private lesson/masterclass instructor to middle and high school trumpet students in the Boerne and San Antonio areas. She has performed with The San Antonio Symphony, Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet, and Houston Grand Opera orchestras. Erin is the Principal Solo cornet with the San Antonio Brass Band and enjoys performing with various groups around San Antonio and the Hill Country. You can also hear her play trumpet each week with the worship team at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Boerne.
Euphonium soloist, conductor and educator John Caputo is the Lecturer of Euphonium and Trombone at the University of Texas at San Antonio. A 16 year veteran of the US Air Force Bands Program, he has built an international reputation for excellence as a performer and
educator. As a chamber musician and clinician for the Air Force, he travelled to top university programs throughout the US with the USAF Reserve Brass Quintet. Since retiring from active duty in 2015, John has become an active teacher and clinician throughout South Central
Texas and Louisiana. He is currently the Music Director for the Austin Brass Band and the British Brass Band of Louisiana. John plays Solo Euphonium for the San Antonio Brass Band and is in demand as a Besson Performing Artist and Clinician throughout the US.
