Nicole Smith - Solo Tenor Horn
Nicole Smith has been a member of the San Antonio Brass Band since 2019. A graduate of Florida State University's College of Music, she has a long and diverse list of ensemble experiences. Few, however have brought her as much satisfaction as the British style brass band.
Nicole started playing the Tenor Horn in 2000 with the newly formed Brass Band of Central Florida. In her 9 years with the ensemble, she performed at venues such as the North American Brass Band Association (NABBA), U.S. Open Brass Band Championships, British Open Championships, and the prestigious Brass in Concert.
Nicole has performed solos on the concert stage as well as in competition. Her 1st place finish at the 2004 NABBA Low Brass Lyrical Solo Contest helped solidify an invitation to perform with the esteemed Athena Band. Nicole performed with this select, all women ensemble for their 2005, 2006, 2009, and 2012 performances. Her move away from Florida brought a temporary hiatus to playing the tenor horn until she discovered the San Antonio Brass Band.
As an educator, Nicole has taught music to children of all ages and has earned distinctions such as Teacher of the Year and National Board Certification. She resides in San Antonio with her husband and two children where she currently teaches Music Together (a music and movement program for children aged newborn through 5 years old) with the Children's Chorus of San Antonio.

Jean-Jacques Charles about EnTrois Couleurs -

"It was rather the music that inspired me to choose the colors. With a little trick in the choice of these, since all begin with the letter V. "Water Green - Old Pink - Vermilion", it is the very sound of the letter, repetitive, which reminds me of the softness of the Eb tenor horn.
Then the choice of colors that seem to me to correspond to the character of each of the movements. Water green, for the freshness it suggests, Old rose for the poetic and nostalgic spirit, Vermilion because it is bright red, which calls for energy and velocity.
I am very fond of the art of painting, to the point that I published a small book, with my wife (historian): "Painting music", which traces the presence of music in art from the 13th century to the contemporary era."

Erin Thomas - Solo Cornet

Erin Thomas is a native San Antonian and a product of the Boerne band programs. She is an active performer and private lesson/masterclass instructor to middle and high school trumpet students in the Boerne and San Antonio areas.

She is the Principal Solo cornet with the San Antonio Brass Band and enjoys performing with various groups around San Antonio and the Hill Country. You can also hear her play trumpet each week with the worship team at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Boerne. In addition, she has performed with The San Antonio Symphony, Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet, and Houston Grand Opera orchestras.

As a student of Jim Vassallo’s (former principal trumpet of the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet orchestras), Erin received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Education and Trumpet Performance from the University of Houston. She earned a Professional Diploma in Orchestral Studies from Roosevelt University in Chicago where she studied with Mark Ridenour (Assistant principal trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra).
